Good and hope you are well.  I am going to use this page as my selling page which will save so many fees that Etsy charges - which will save you money!!
The grandchildren are here right now because all the schools are closed but next week I should be up and running.

Tuesday, January 21, 2020

Good day everyone!  I wanted to direct you to my site on Mewe for historical reproductions:
https://mewe.com/group/5b1542cca5f4e551868bb9fe
There seems to be more engagement and it is nice to see what other people are working on.
Please join us!

You know how it goes - I am picking up a sampler I started years ago so of course I am missing one color of DMC  (926) I guess I could substitute - but I will just use a craft coupon and go buy one. I did not realize how expensive threads have become.  I tried finding the 35 new colors at a major chain and they are not carrying them- crazy!

We are overcoming the flu here on the mountain - apparently no where is safe!
Be well everyone and please share any projects you are working on - I love being inspired.

I could not stand it any longer and bought  His Eye is On the Sparrow- cross stitch chart.

It is gorgeous but large - the stitch count is: 435 x 363 ~ so on 28ct linen it will be approx   15 x 1/2 x 13.

It is a big piece but I love all the details and the variety of animals.  Of course I will have to stitch on a larger count so I can see better - getting old is the pits!

And yet, these are also staring at me!!

So what are you working on?

I can't believe it is April and we are having snow here in the South!

Tuesday, February 5, 2019

Even though it is a new year I need to pull out some of the things I love and get them completed!
Honestly, I need to start this Christmas piece TODAY if I even have a chance of finishing it by Dec.25!
Have you started anything for this year's holiday?

** I am wanting this sampler:

His Eye is On the Sparrow - Cross Stitch Pattern

Designer: Heartstring Samplery
I will be happy to send linen or threads if you would like to trade.  Let me know thru comments or email.

Hello dear stitching sisters!
I am sure everyone is getting into decorating mode for the various holidays that are approaching - it is a wonderful time of year.

I just came across this almost completed piece - I actually think I could get this done some time in this year:

I recently saw someone's Plantation Sampler that they are working on and I want it desperately!
I had that pattern but have no idea where it went.  If someone has it and would like to sell or trade it, let me know either thru comments or email.  I have a lot of collectible patterns and tons of linen so I am sure I have something you could use.

Please share what you are working on - I enjoy everyone's inspiring work.  The migraines have calmed down so I hope to begin stitching more consistently.
Take care and have a look at the sale page - I hope to continually add more things as I down-size.

I finished this piece after grand daughter was born!!!!!!

But I can explain!!  She was born 8 weeks after my 4th brain surgery but I got up and went to see her:

Now at 6 yrs old she is starting to ask for lessons in stitching so I need to find a beginners kit for her - I only stitch on linen so I need to find some aida for her to practice on.

During an industrious period, I began a "1,2,3" Sampler that coordinates with the above alphabet sampler but have not picked it up in a couple of years:
Now may be the time to pull it back out before she gets any older!

The Sale Page has linen, charts and various stitching stuff for sale.  All are new (or some shop wear/price mark) and from a no pets/no smoking home.
Just send an email in the contact section if you are interested in something - almost all the charts can be found on the internet so you can get all the info you might want or I will be happy to send any info that you need.
I can accept paypal for payment.

SALE PAGE

Happy New Year!  I hope this finds you well and working on something exciting.  I have started to complete a Merry Christmas piece and I think it has a real chance of getting completed before the end of the year!

I would love to know what you are working on!

Since we are retiring, I am downsizing and want my lovelies to go to new homes.
S.A.B.L.E = Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy
Yes, SABLE should be my middle name!! No, seriously, I have enough stuff to fill a store!  As many of the items are collectible and out of print, I want them to go to stitchers that will appreciate these gems. So I am adding a Sale Page which will have linen, charts and various stitching stuff for sale.  All are new (or some shop wear/price mark) and from a no pets/no smoking home.
Just send an email in the contact section if you are interested in something - almost all the charts can be found on the internet so you can get all the info you might want.
Many of the charts are very collectible and are selling for large amounts of money on 'bidding' sites - so it has to be first come, first serve.
I can only mail within the US.
I will be updating this page regularly - as there is a lot to list!!
And, with every purchase there will be a surprise included!  Enjoy!
(The Sale Page link is below on the right)

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer.  We are having a little cooler weather & are drying out from the drenching rains.

I will soon be listing a number of OOP charts as my interests have changed and I just don't stitch as much as in the past.  I have really enjoyed playing with my new blog which centers on hair & make up for us 'grown' up girls!       http://inmyprimetime.blogspot.com/
I would be delighted to have you visit.
I am sure there will be linens & other stitching items that will be available - I will keep you posted.
The next couple of weeks will be spent preparing for my dear grandson's birthday party - another Jurassic Park cake will have to be created!

Take care!

Friday, June 7, 2013

Someone asked me if I still have R&R linen - I do & sent an email but it must have not gone thru;
reach me here if you need some.

Monday, June 3, 2013

I have not been stitching and I have started a new blog for those of a 'mature' age!  Please come and visit me and the beauty products that are perfect for us:
http://inmyprimetime.blogspot.com/
As we grow older we need special care for our skin and  it will be fun to find what works for each of us; and of course there will be giveaways! Look forward to 'seeing" everyone!

Merry Christmas to all! It seems this year has gone by so quickly - my adorable grandchildren are growing too fast and I have not stitched enough!  I hope the new year brings more time for stitching and all the things we love.
All the best to everyone.

There is nothing like March Madness and us Southerners live for it!! My beloved Duke Blue Devils just did not have the stuff this year but there is always next year and I know Coach K will have the boys in tip-top shape - we love you guys anyway!

Chronic Migraine now has its own ribbon - scroll down to view and help us support more research.
After 4 brain surgeries, I know it's important to show our concern.

I was delighted to have some charts that other stitchers needed. Collecting is fun and so is sharing - I know the charts have nice new homes. I am still searching for the Plantation Sampler,as I know it is around here somewhere- I have always loved the design and know I will actually stitch it!
But if I can't find it, I could be very happy with Christmas Garden - it is really calling my name - and of course, Pink Hill Manor would look wonderful in my dressing room....

The weather here is unbelievable and I hope this does not mean we will be french fries by July!
Summer in the south can be brutal and it is not my favorite season - another reason to stay inside and stitch.
Enjoy the nice weather!

Update & fun for you!

After back to back brain surgeries (Oct & Dec), I am finally on the mend. I have even started looking thru my sampler collection for a new start. Your blogs have been an inspiration.
I have missed everyone! And an extra "Hello" to the new followers!

I need to reduce the number of charts I have, as I have been quite the collector over the years. So, I am going to offer them to all of you. If you are a collector of diff designers, this is a good way to fill in your collection. I have older Sheepish Designs, Mary Beale (all of the stockings) and Good Huswife, plus others. Simply send an email of what you are looking for and I will do a search - it's way too much to list individually. Also if you like R&R linen I have tons of it - just let me know the colors you like - of course the dye lots will be diff from what is available today, but they are all great colors for samplers. My home is pet & smoke free.

As I have been looking thru my stash, I am still loving Autumn at HRH; PS Summer Samplers; Blackbird Designs Quaker Garden and a band sampler Froth & Bubble. All of these are older designs but I still really like them and know I would enjoy stitching them. Yes, there are others that are started which I should finish but I want to treat myself to a new start. I can always justify starting something new!

This is short as I wanted to update and get back in the swing of things.
I recently saw someone's blog that had not been updated in over 10 mons, so I feel better about myself! It's amazing how quickly time goes by and at my age, I am ready for it to slow down!
Take care everyone and know I am thinking about you.

I want to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone a little early. I wish all of you a wonderful day.

The brain surgery is healing slowly, but it is not clear if the implant can stay, as the brain seems to want to reject it. I think I will use this as an excuse to eat choc cheesecake!

I have not stitched since surgery, but I have been looking thru things, so hopefully I will be tempted after the first of the year. I hope you have had time to stitch during this busy time.

This was just a quick hello before a dr's appt and I hope everyone is well. I send good thoughts to all of you.

Isn't this neat? Lori is so talented and she kindly shared this with us sampler sisters:
This is one of the amazing things about this hobby - people are generous - yes, once in a while you will find a crab apple; for the most part though, some of the nicest people I have ever met have been other stitchers. It truly has enhanced my life.

I am home from brain surgery #3 - see how badly I need this hobby!!!!
I can't wait to catch up on your blogs - I know I will be envious - are you mostly stitching on holiday items or a great sampler /I am looking to be inspired. AT this point, things will have to come to me, as I am house bound until at least Thanksgiving - but at least I should be on my feet by then, because my turkey has to be just so-so; and I can't really blame it on my family - I am fussy about by bird also!!

Can't wait to catch up with everyone!!

Monday, September 26, 2011

Do you still have older designs that you hold on to? I definitely do and I still love them as much as when I purchased them. Of course, some I love and collect even though I have not stitched any!! But it is a fun hobby!
I just received my order for the JCS Ornament issue - it just doesn't seem like the holidays without it!

Please go see the adorable denim jacket I decorated for GD - the lace adds just the perfect touch to the ruffles on the jacket!
http://thesweetpinkshop.blogspot.com/

Here is a wonderful site for migraineurs:
http://rewriteyourday.mychronicmigraine.com/

It gives you a chance to rewrite a day lost because of migraine - it is a wonderful gesture and I can't wait to read the winning story.

Have you seen the ad for the cd for Tony Bennett & duets? I think I am going to get it, as his voice is still wonderful.

The leaves are starting to turn here and the temps much more reasonable - fall is the best!

It is finally out of the 90's !!!!!! Little GS had a wonderful birthday yesterday and loved the loot - here are some pics: he wanted a Jurassic Park cake so we made one together. I must say he is very creative and did all the decorating - I used sparklers for the volcano which surprised him and my 6 yr old was impressed!

But since it was my birthday too, this is what I got!!

Well, I guess I should also include this since I wanted it so badly!!!

So what are you working on? The children in my area have gone back to school, so maybe there will more stitching time for everyone!! Hope the heat is subsiding for you!

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Isn't this pretty? I have not started on it yet, but it is in the "pile" - I pray I live long enough to complete some of these. I hate to think I will still be stitching birth samplers as the grandchildren go to college!

I have to show you this outfit I created for GD - I thought it will be comfortable and adorable on her. It has white eyelet and a tulle bow on the front and the back. I hate to think what I have spent on ribbons & lace recently; but this was worth it.
http://thesweetpinkshop.blogspot.com/

This will be short - I am off to Duke for a brain scan; many of you know I am a daily migraineur and had 2 brain surgeries in a 5 yr period - guess what's coming up again ????!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, why not just put a zipper back there and be done with it !!!!!!!
I have collected a couple of small stitching items that will not be too taxing for post-op - at least I will be on my feet for Thanksgiving.
Can you believe how fast time is flying by - our children go back to school in 3 weeks!

Pneumonia has about done me in !! I am never sick in the summer but this has been a terror - I am now on my second round of antibiotics - so stitching has not been a priority and I miss it.

Not long ago I read about a designer that offered free little designs - and they were copyrighted, so therefore, she did not want any changes made as you stitched. Gosh, I can't think of anyone that has not substituted diff colors on a design. I have a new chart that is in blue but I want to stitch it in pink for GD. Now I am not sure if I should just sell the chart or give it to Goodwill. In all of my years of stitching, I have never heard of a designer making such demands, especially for a free design. Most designers seem happy that we have personalized the design to fit our needs. Now for historical reproductions, I am much more diligent about trying to re-create the original - but for some cutesy, quickie little design??? - if you feel the need for that kind of control, why not keep it to yourself so it is not defiled.

On this same line, I received a new chart whereby the designer states " Be Creative!" She gives alternate thread colors and it appears to be OK to use whatever color of linen we like - that is my kind of designer and I will be buying more of her designs.

I recently was in a craft store and they have started putting out fall ribbons and decorations and even though it was 95 outside, I started thinking about Thanksgiving dinner!! It must have been a coping mechanism before heat stroke!!

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Well, it's going to be 90 degrees again today, so I will stay inside - heaven knows, there is plenty to do!! I have completed some summer hats for the hair accessory line:
http://thesweetpinkshop.blogspot.com/
and still have a couple of other colors to finish.

I absolutely love fall and the beautiful colors that come with it. So when I received this chart I was thrilled because it has everything!
I have not stitched in a while so hopefully this will get me back in the groove.

Let me say "Welcome" to Cake Pop Fusion, who recently became a follower - your website is fantastic and my little grandson would love all of your fabulous creations!
Take care everyone!!

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

I was able to get these from a sale at Hancock's Fabric, but I almost missed it because if you do not go in the shop within 6 weeks, they drop you from the mailing list. Well, I live in the middle of no-where and cannot get there every month - a little more generosity in this dept would be good for the consumer.

Little GS played t-ball this spring so I went to his last game and got some pics; I just love that sweet face!!

My little GD has inspired me to start a line of hair accessories for girls - here are a couple of things I have created; all are one of a kind - I will take checks from the USA and all of these would make great gifts! I will have a separate blog for the hair accessories - just need to finish up a few details: http://thesweetpinkshop.blogspot.com/

Summer time is a good time.........

This came in the mail - the bunny pattern could not be sweeter; of course this will be for GD who is growing too quickly for me:
Trouble looking for a place to happen!!!!!!!
Have a nice holiday!

Saturday, May 14, 2011

I have these for sale, as my tree is not made up of stitched ornaments:
I love this quote: "And what is a stitch for? To hold.
It binds past to present, old country to new,
generation to generation."
I found it here: http://samplerstitcher.blogspot.com/
You must see some of the band samplers she is working on - I hope she puts me in the will !!!!!

Go here and see Siobhan's Anniversaries of the Heart: http://bluehenhollow.blogspot.com/
OH MY STARS !!!!!!!!!!! This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen!
Besides being a super person, her work is just outstanding! I told her I was coming back as her twin in my next life!

Since we are coming up to the end of May, I am starting to look at Christmas designs and I think this one will be a nice stitch:

I have to admit that when it comes to cosmetics, I am very particular because I have to be. My skin is very sensitive so I mostly stick to name brands. I was recently at Target and tried a lip gloss by Sonia Kashuk and wow, it was a great product. I like the shine and lightness of gloss and this one went on easily and stayed put! It must be popular because I got the last one in the "Beauty" color.

Precious grandson was here this weekend and "let" me take his picture:
He loves to color so he usually has a crayon in his hand. Unfortunately, this morning he came and told me his head hurts and as a migraineur, it just about makes my heart stop. I gave him some medicine and convinced him to lay down, as his stomach was also upset = classic migraine symptoms. I know my GC have a 4 fold risk of having migraines but I am just hoping for the best.
Have a good weekend.

I am so flattered to be part of Sorority Rush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://bloggerettesorority.blogspot.com/
Come see this beautiful blog!

I know most of you know of this site but for any new folks, you need this link:
http://stitchingblogsweallluvtoread.blogspot.com/
It is so organized and I cannot imagine the time it took to construct this site. It is so nice to see everyone's updates.

The royal wedding made me think of the Royal School of Needlework - would it not be wonderful to learn more about it? I am hoping that while the new Princess is living in the country, she will pick up some needlework and eventually choose the School as a focus and promote it as an official function.
I have read that our European stitching sisters pay dearly for DMC threads - while here in the USA, we pay more for the overseas designers. I will be happy to trade with anyone that has European designs - I have an excellent amount of thread and I will be glad to trade with you - just send me an email = it's on the side of this blog.

Besides needlework, I also enjoy painting items - like this oval box:
I also use them to put gifts in - I need to do one with pink roses for GD's room, so she can keep her hair accessories inside.

Don't you think GD will love these?
These last 2 were found at a thrift shop - love it !!

Someone recently wrote to me after seeing the blog and introduced herself - we like some of the same things and it was a real treat because it came while in the mist of a terrible migraine that is in the 5th day. And I remember thinking she does not realize what a gift she gave (though she probably does by now because I wrote back and thanked her!!). This makes me aware of how thoughtfulness can make someone's day exceptional and we all need more of those.
